8/80 Dry Sump JAP replica

Most parts for an 8/80 Dry Sump engine as built by Terry Wright for the Walton JAP. This is similar to the 8/80 JAP engine of 996cc that was originally used by Bruce Walton when he built his car in 1952. Some machining required.

Near complete original 1949/50 JAP 8/80 dry sump engine JTOSZ/S/50860/1 as used in early Coopers

8/80 JAP twin JTOSZ/S/50860/1 rare dry sump type (recirculating oil) engine most likely built for first Cooper twins in 1949. Complete new pressed up flywheel assembly. Timing cover casting and some minormachining required. Original carburettors and magnetos included. The iron JAP speedway heads were first used by Coopers in 1948 with iron barrels then through 1949 with aluminium barrels before the introduction of the Mk1 engine in early 1950 with a new design of aluminium head and a sump added to the crankcase.

Engine set, of major parts for early Cooper engine.

Crankshaft custom made and balanced by S&S with new Carillo rods all by Greg Summerton.

Original hairpin valve springs.

Pistons by Accralite. Camshafts custom made by Ivan Tighe.

Cylinders require liners fitting (supplied) for supplied new Mahle +20 thou pistons. Timing cover requires machining to JAP drawings.

Includes 2 off BTH magnetos and 2 off Amal track carburettors.

0ne camwheel needs new shaft; Correct original oil pump. New Mahle pistons. Original hairpin valve springs

Cylinder head, rocker boxes and Amal 27/013 carbs need reconditioning

New oil pump by Ewan Cameron.

One camwheel needs new shaft; timing cover casting need machining.

Rocker boxes and Amal 27/013 carbs need restoration.
